We are living in an environment of nonstop information and sensory stimulation. Stay Conscious! explores how that pressure may move beyond attention into the ways we think, relate, feel, and inhabit our bodies, and asks what it could mean to recover conscious sovereignty.
The book traces a proposed cascade through thought and decision, close relationships, emotion and social life, unconscious experience, the body, and a person's sense of inherent worth. It uses six Greek figures, Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia, as its organizing framework, making twelve distinct sovereignties visible.
Its thesis and original claims are supported by 233 individual research findings, compiled in the Works Cited. The book distinguishes documented findings from proposed future trajectories and does not present those trajectories as inevitable. It is not a substitute for medical or mental-health care.
